Save event
"Cool Kids Can Cook" was an event where children aged 7–9 explored the digital world of food and learnt how to make healthy, sustainable choices.
Building on our previous "Food for Thought" and "From Field to Plate" projects, this interactive workshop helped kids understand where food comes from, the importance of seasonal and local produce, and how to cook fresh, delicious meals.
In collaboration with Tamar Grow Local and students from the School of Art, Design and Architecture, the event featured a digital animation created through co-creative means as well as used illustrations from the Tamar Grow Local cookery book. Kids from Salisbury Road Primary School engaged in a fun exercise on seasonal produce, participated in a hands-on cooking session led by a trained cook and enjoyed a meal they had prepared together.
This event not only fostered a love for cooking but also deepened children's awareness of healthy, sustainable eating. The animation was intended to be used as a part of an educational tool kit in primary schools.
The event was led by Dr Nikolina Bobic , Lecturer in Architecture, University of Plymouth.
