Plymouth Institute of Education has a strong record of expertise in special educational needs and/or disability (SEND) and inclusion. Our aim is to grow relationships with educational settings and stakeholders across the South West. We wish to work in collaboration with schools and the Local Authorities to continue to be a leader in SEND and inclusion research that supports outstanding practice in schools.
In response to the Plymouth Local Area improvement plan, Plymouth Institute of Education is committed to providing opportunities for knowledge exchange and research-informed continuous professional development with a commitment to high quality SEND support for all.

'Skills for SEND' workshops

Workshops will be held by Plymouth Institute of Education to share current research-informed, evidence-based practice. Workshops will cover key themes including child voice and child-centered planning, reducing exclusion rates, early identification, adaptive teaching and working in partnership with alternative settings. Sessions will be specifically beneficial for teaching assistants, teachers, SENCOs and school leaders. Events are intended to be used as starting points for reflective discussion, to complement continuous professional development for supporting SEND provision across the Southwest.
