The University of Plymouth’s work to inspire the next generation is coming to the small screen thanks to a new CBeebies show.
The University will feature in two episodes of Art Adventures with Fred & Pete – which follows the Cornish comedy characters as they take on creative challenges.
Aimed at four to eight-year-olds, the series launches on Saturday 9 November and covers the exciting opportunities of art in lots of different subjects.
Plymouth was invited to take part in episodes on robotics and medicine, with filming taking place in its cutting-edge clinical skills facilities and recently opened Babbage Building.
Medical graduate Nabeeha Mubeen and Robotics Technician and Knowledge Exchange Manager Jake Shaw-Sutton both took part in filming, and explained why it was such a valuable opportunity.

It’s so important to show people at a young age that they can be anything, so to be able to contribute to a show that links art and science in a really fun way is wonderful.

During my time as a student, I was President of the University’s Widening Access to Medicine Society, and this filming opportunity links in so well with my passion to get more people to consider a career as a doctor.
I loved the filming experience and look forward to seeing the final result when it’s aired!

I can tell people all day long that robotics is interesting, but being able to show them is a different thing altogether.

It was great to welcome the production company to campus and show them the amazing technology that our researchers and students have at their fingertips.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the end result, and hope lots of young people and families tune it to watch the whole series too.
