The University of Plymouth has today announced the appointment of Professor Julian Chaudhuri as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Student Experience, and Professor Jerry Roberts as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Enterprise.
Professor Julian Chaudhuri, who is currently Dean of Engineering and Informatics at the University of Bradford, and Professor Jerry Roberts, who has recently completed his term of office as Assistant Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Nottingham, will take up their roles in the new year.
Professor Judith Petts, CBE, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Plymouth said:
“I am delighted that Professor Chaudhuri and Professor Roberts have been appointed. The University is entering an exciting and important phase of its development and these two senior appointments will play a critical role in ensuring we achieve our strategic goals. We have ambitious plans and I am looking forward to working with Professor Chaudhuri and Professor Roberts as we build upon the University’s education and research strengths.”
Professor Chaudhuri who, previous to his role as Dean of Engineering and Informatics at the University of Bradford, was Head of Chemical Engineering and Associate Dean (Research) for Engineering & Design at the University of Bath said:

The University of Plymouth has significant strengths in the provision of high quality education and the wider student experience and I am looking forward to working with colleagues to build on these strengths.”
Professor Roberts, who has held a number of leadership and management roles at the University of Nottingham, including Dean of the Graduate School, where he provided academic leadership for over 3,000 PhD students, said:
“The University of Plymouth has an impressive breadth and depth of academic disciplines with areas of research which are regarded as internationally excellent. It is clear that there is great scope to build upon the University’s already impressive research activities, to foster a strong research community among staff and students, and to engage even more closely with local, national and international businesses.”
