An inspirational event to be held on the main campus of Plymouth University aims to bring together the community during the Islamic holy period of Ramadan.
Ramadan Tent is an award winning student-led project which aims to bring together the community in a spirit of sharing and communication.
During Ramadan Muslims fast between dawn and sunset and the organisers of Ramadan Tent are inviting everyone, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, to join them for free food and drink to break the fast on Friday 19 June.
Depending on the weather the event will take place between 8.45pm and 10.30pm in Drake’s Place on the main campus at Plymouth University.
A variety of cuisines will be on offer, kindly donated by local businesses including Ganges and Gurkha, CostLess, Tasty Food Express, Aroma Woodfire Pizza, Jaipur Palace, Spice Well, Mesopotamia, India Express and The Curry King. Any leftover food will be donated to the city’s homeless shelters.
One of the organisers of the Ramadan Tent event in Plymouth is dental student Karishma Chouglay who said:
“This is a super opportunity for everyone in the community to come together, get to know each other and share in some lively conversation and excellent food. Everyone is welcome regardless of who they are, where they come from or what they believe.”
