The UK’s Secretary of State for Education says the Government continues to support and value the contribution that international students make to the UK and that they should feel welcome to come and study in the UK.
And the University of Plymouth has welcomed a new video from Bridget Phillipson MP, in which she expresses her admiration for international students taking a leap of faith, developing new skills and chasing new horizons, and confirms her passion is for a Britain that looks outwards in optimism.
The message for international students is that if you meet the criteria for entry to a UK university and for entering the UK on a Student visa, then the British government and the British people will welcome you.

We welcome the encouraging messaging from the Secretary of State for Education which reinforces the UK as a welcoming destination.

At the University of Plymouth, we cherish the contributions of our international students, and celebrate the opportunities of partnering with institutions around the world in teaching and research collaborations.
We are very excited to welcome our new cohort of international students in the coming weeks to our wonderful city and campus.

The video follows a recent speech by the Education Secretary in which she talked about "resetting relationships across the length and breadth of education" including the Government's position on international students, which she sees as an opportunity to build "bridges of friendship with other nations."

Be in no doubt: international students are welcome in the UK. This new government values their contribution – to our universities, to our communities, to our country.

I want Britain to welcome those who want to come to these shores to study and meet the requirements to do so.
