Professor Dame Judith Petts DBE
Professor Dame Judith Petts DBE was among the dignitaries receiving honours during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, recently.
The University of Plymouth’s former Vice-Chancellor was made a Dame in the King’s Birthday Honours, earlier this year.
And she was presented with her insignia by HRH The Princess Royal, on behalf of The King, on Wednesday 4 December.

It was an amazing day at Windsor Castle, and I feel so proud to have received my DBE from Her Royal Highness Princess Anne.

It felt especially poignant in that she has visited the University on several occasions and seen our health and marine research.
An investiture is a very special occasion in a very special location never to be forgotten. I am so proud to know it reflects my leadership at the University of Plymouth, which is a very special university.

Emeritus Professor

Dame Judith led the University of Plymouth for almost nine years and retired in September , following a 45-year career in higher education.
Plymouth faced challenges during her time as Vice-Chancellor – not least the most significant global pandemic in a century – but, in a farewell message, the outgoing VC cited colleagues' "knowledge, ingenuity, and compassion" as essential to the University's success in overcoming them.
Despite her 'retirement' Dame Judith remains busy, including chairing the Great South West partnership's Energy Board, and as a member of the Marine Management Organisation.
She is now an Emeritus Professor at the University of Plymouth and continues to champion the institution at the highest levels.
