Aerial View of Plymouth including some of The Sound
Plymouth has bagged fourth place in a new ranking of universities in the UK.
And Unifresher’s Ultimate Alternative University League Table 2023 puts the University of Plymouth in pole position for South West England, as the only university in the region to make the top ten.

We’re always happy to see Plymouth rated highly for academic standards and student outcomes, but this alternative view is a really useful and practical look at some of the things that make a big difference to our students’ experience of living and studying in Britain’s Ocean City. Thousands of students have already chosen us as their destination for 2023/24 and beyond, but we still have places available on many of our courses through clearing. For anyone looking at studying in the South West, Plymouth has it all, and if you already live in the region, why go anywhere else when you’ve got our amazing facilities and top-rated lifestyle here on your doorstep?

The alternative league table looks at things like the cost of socialising and eating out, including comparing the prices of a pint and a meal at McDonalds.
Plymouth would be ranked even higher, if it wasn’t for the price of an Uber (estimated as £19, despite the service not operating here yet) and the cost of cinema tickets coming in at £10, when you can see movies at the city’s Vue or Cineworld for a lot less than that.
Unifresher also lists Plymouth’s Freshers’ Week in its’ Top 20. Meanwhile, another recent survey found that Plymouth is among the most cost-effective places to live and study in the country.
