PEMC offers thin section preparation for teaching and research

Plymouth Electron Microscopy Centre specialises in making thin sections for petrographic analysis. Our labs are fully equipped with instruments for cutting, lapping, and polishing. We offer thin sections in a range of sizes that can be cover-slipped or polished, and can also prepare sections for laser ablation and fluid inclusion analysis. Additionally, we have the capability to resin impregnate and stain porous and friable material.

Our consumables are from MetPrep, Buehler, Kemet, and Agar Scientific. Specialist preparation can be undertaken on samples where necessary.
