"My current position is working for an oil and gas services company in Aberdeen. Throughout the first two years of my career I will experience four placements in different departments within the organisation. Currently I’m working on a project aiming to stabilise a production platform in the Danish North Sea through the use of cable-stays. So far I have been involved in rigging and lifting operations, scheduling, working with suppliers and a vessel mobilisation prior to offshore installation.
Within the next 18 months I can expect to get involved in a wide range of work. This can include structural analysis and design, tendering and procurement, asset management as well as experience offshore - all of which will help me towards chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Throughout my time at Plymouth University I was able to get a commercial diving qualification, industrial experience and develop a range of skills and knowledge. On top of the technical subjects, the course also provided me with valuable commercial and management-focused modules – all of which enabled me to get a job in the oil and gas industry and put me in good stead for working towards professional accreditation."
