This module provides an introduction to sociology via C Wright Mills idea of the 'sociological imagination'. Introducing the sociological imagination as a quality of mind and method of analysing social problems it will discover what it is to have a 'sociological imagination' alongside exploration of classical and contemporary sociological theories and perspectives

Qualitative Research Methods
This module aims to introduce students to psychology research from interpretative paradigms. Students will gain an understanding of interpretative research paradigms and qualitative methods of data collection and analysis. They will undertake and write up a small study using qualitative data collection and analysis methods.

Individual Differences and Psychometric Tests
This module examines theories of individual differences and how instruments for measuring ability and personality are constructed and used. Students will construct their own personality scale and use this within a research study. It will also provide experience of translating research questions into research proposals in the context of a literature review
* UK Government announcement on tuition fees
On Monday 4 November 2024 the UK Government announced a proposal to increase tuition fees for home undergraduate students from £9,250 to £9,535 per annum from September 2025 onwards. The University of Plymouth intends to apply this new fee from September 2025. However, implementation of this increase will be subject to Parliamentary procedure. The University will give further details to both prospective and current students as soon as more information becomes available.
Completing this course enables you to progress onto these related courses and programmes with the University of Plymouth at level 5 or level 6, as specifically defined by this programme’s progression agreement.
