"I applied through clearing after finding out more information about the University of Plymouth and the course. I decided that geography would be an interesting and valuable subject to study because it encompasses so many different aspects of the world that we live in.
The University of Plymouth has a number of world-leading researchers in their fields, which means we have access to the most up-to-date and cutting-edge information across the course. Also, the heavy focus on building skills that develop our employability skills makes it an extremely beneficial degree to study. During my third year, one of the modules I chose to undertake required me to do work-based learning in a placement. With the prospect of becoming an environmental lawyer, I did two placements in different law firms and gained bounds of experience. The placements provided me with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of different environments.
Furthermore, being a ‘course rep’ has given me the chance to build up transferable skills which I can take into any working role, within and outside of academia.
With the University of Plymouth you have the best of both worlds. There is the gorgeous coastline, with a tranquil social ambience, and there is the thriving and vibrant city, with shopping and other recreational activities. The campus is located in such a central location, making everything easily accessible."
