BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences academic regulations

This course has unique academic regulations relating to:

  • Progression
  • Passing a module

These course-specific academic regulations work alongside the University's full academic regulations.

  1. Progression

    1. Progression to Stage 4 of BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences requires the successful completion of the zero credit rated modules BIOL129Z and BIOL225Z.
Students failing either BIOL129Z or BIOL225Z after exhausting all possible attempts, but having achieved 120 credits at Stage 2, must progress onto the appropriate generic ‘top up’ route, in this case BSc (Hons) Biosciences.
    2. Students wishing to transfer from another institution onto Stage 2 of BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences must successfully complete both zero credit rated modules BIOL129Z and BIOL225Z at the same time as their other Stage 2 modules.
  2. Passing a module

    1. The pass mark for an undergraduate module (Levels 0 and 4-6) is 40%. To pass a module, a student must achieve an overall module aggregate mark of at least the pass mark and at least 30% in all elements of the module.
