This module provides comprehensive understanding of legal and policy frameworks in social work. It covers types of organisations providing services, laws and regulations, role of social workers in the legal system, with a focus on anti-oppressive practice and navigating social care service delivery. Students will gain the skills to apply the framework in their practice for optimal outcomes

This module aims to provide students with the necessary knowledge, techniques, and abilities to perform as competent social workers in health and social care settings. Social work is rooted in ethical and value-based foundations such as social justice, human rights, and anti-oppressive practice. This module studies the evolution of social work, analysing current trends and future developments while maintaining ethical and compassionate principles. Students will learn to adapt social work practices to tackle complex and evolving situations by examining theories, techniques, and innovative approaches in the present and the future

Inclusive Practice with Diverse Populations
Social and cultural factors impact diverse populations greatly and it's crucial to engage with and support them. To do so, reflection on personal biases and developing cultural competence is necessary. To be effective, practitioners must be culturally responsive and inclusive. Cultural competence can be achieved through reflection and developing strategies for inclusivity
* UK Government announcement on tuition fees
On Monday 4 November 2024 the UK Government announced a proposal to increase tuition fees for home undergraduate students from £9,250 to £9,535 per annum from September 2025 onwards. The University of Plymouth intends to apply this new fee from September 2025. However, implementation of this increase will be subject to Parliamentary procedure. The University will give further details to both prospective and current students as soon as more information becomes available.
