Architect and visiting professor at BASEhabitat and founder of Simple Architects, Jan Glasmeier discusses his experiences working with local organisations and marginalised communities to create schools, shelters and hospitals using vernacular techniques in Mae Sot, a small town on the Thai-Burma border and how this feeds into his work as a visiting professor. BASEhabitat’s programme focuses on theoretical and practical approaches to sustainable architecture within the global context and aims to engage students with theory and practice at the intersection of climate challenges, ethics of care and environmental humanities.
