Our residential field trip is typically based in either Greece, focussing on Mediterranean species such as the gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata), European sea bass (Dicentrachus labrax) and meagre (Argyrosomus regius), or Scotland, focussing on salmonids, cleaner fish and other key species. The field trip encompasses a number of sites, providing access to key facilities and infrastructure, and engagement with key representatives from some of the largest companies and organisations focussing on sustainable seafood production.
The trip includes visits to commercial hatcheries, on-growing facilities, fish processing and packaging facilities and an aquafeed production plant. The visit therefore provides experiential learning of the aquaculture industry “from farm to fork” with a hands-on feel for marine fish aquaculture.
