Samaria Bezzina is the Planning Officer within the Malta Environment and Planning Authority’s Local Planning Unit for Gozo, mainly responsible for the drafting of policies, for addressing internal consultations related to planning applications, for assessing planning control applications and for work related to the drafting of the new local plan.
“The Planning course offered at the University of Plymouth is exceptional in a number of ways. Apart from receiving full accreditation from the Royal Town Planning Institute, the study programme is very well structured, providing a balance between theory and practice.
The tutors are extremely dedicated, supportive and experts in the field. A good number of guest speakers are also invited to share their experiences within the different areas of planning studied throughout the course.
Given all the benefits the study programme has to offer, I have grown to be more confident, to think more critically and to further expose myself to the real world outside.
This experience has led me to follow a career path in planning, and I am now working overseas at the Malta Environment and Planning Authority’s Forward Planning department. Exciting plans for the near future include working hands-on on the new local plans for the Maltese Islands."
