Heads of University Centres of Biomedical Sciences (HUCBMS) Annual Conference 2016

The Heads of University Centres of Biomedical Sciences (HUCBMS)'s mission is to promote the development and enhancement of teaching and research in the Biomedical Sciences. The Biomedical Sciences encompass the subjects that provide understanding of the biological basis for health and disease and includes a wide range of specialist areas. It is one of the most popular undergraduate and postgraduate bioscience course areas offered across the world. Biomedical research is also the fastest growing and most highly funded research discipline in modern science due largely to its pivotal position in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease and its associated impact on economic development via the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

One of HUCBMS’s most important activities is an annual conference to keep academics in Biomedical Sciences Centres up to date with current developments and facilitate their interaction. The Plymouth University School of Biomedical and Healthcare Sciences are delighted to be hosting the 2016 Annual Conference in our state of the art Portland Square Building. The Portland Square Building comprises three atriums, giving the building a modern and bright feel. Portland Square houses three lecture theatres with video conferencing facilities, numerous classrooms and a café. All facilities in Portland Square Building are fully accessible.
