Abstract rainbow
Our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) pledge scheme is an initiative that empowers you to make a meaningful impact on our campus and beyond.
We have provided information on how you can make your own pledge below.

How does it work?

It's simple! Sign up online and make your commitment.
Your pledge can be as modest as reading an article that challenges your preconceptions, or engaging in conversations that you might have otherwise shied away from. Every action, no matter how seemingly small, has the potential to create a ripple effect and make a more inclusive culture.
We will ask you a few questions about the likely impact, but try to see these as something to get you thinking - we don’t need you to be a C.E.O!

What help can I get?

We believe that change is a collaborative effort. Students who pledge will have access to dedicated support from our staff to help implement their ideas and initiatives. When you sign up, just let us know if you want this and we will put you in contact with anyone in the university that we think can help you.
If you would like to work as a team with your fellow students, that is great! Just give us a team name so that we can see who is working with who.
We also know how life can get busy, and that's why we'll send you periodic reminders, gentle nudges to stay committed to your pledge.
If you want to use it as part of your professional development you can copy in your personal tutor/academic tutor, but there is no need to do so – its totally optional.

Is there anything else I should know?

Aside from knowing you have taken one of the many steps towards an inclusive culture, each student who fulfils their pledge will be awarded a special certificate of recognition. Students will get a chance to present at our Faculty of Health EDI Student Showcase — a platform to share your experiences and inspire others.

What happens to my data?

As part of the Athena Swan Charter, we would like to keep track of the great work that is going on. If you would not like us to keep it, that is totally fine – your participation is more than enough! If you would like to remove your data at any time you can contact us by emailing: fohequality@plymouth.ac.uk

I'd like to know more

Please email fohequality@plymouth.ac.uk if you have any further queries.
