The University Women’s Network, in collaboration with Sustainability and Bikespace, invite you to join us for a free screening of the award-winning crowdsourced documentary, Motherload followed by a panel discussion, Q&A and opportunity to try out a cargo bike, courtesy of Bikespace!
This wonderful documentary uses the cargo bike as the vehicle for exploring parenthood in a digital age of climate change in a quest to understand the increasing isolation and disconnection of modern life and it’s planetary impact.
'Motherload not only describes how the earliest bicycles facilitated women’s fight for the vote and made the poor mobile, but also shows how 21st century bicycles are empowering mothers, families, communities and advocacy networks all over the world. A central point of the film is that we cannot fight for social justice, climate justice or much of anything unless we first resist the cultural shift toward isolation and disconnection. Bicycles connect people with their own bodies, environments and communities, clarifying and aiding in the protection of what is most important.’ – Liz Canning
Please register your attendance via the above link. Doors open at 18:00 for 18:15 start.
