By popular demand, Musica Viva is bringing back violinist Mathilde Milwidsky and pianist Huw Watkins to Levinsky Hall. Their programme this year features powerful and evocative violin and piano duos as well as an extremely expressive solo violin work.
“Mathilde and Huw are fabulous musicians, and their concert last year was a highlight. We’re so pleased to be bringing them back!”
- Dr. Robert Taub, Director of Music, The Arts Institute, University of Plymouth
The evening starts with the lyricism of Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending and then moves immediately to the extreme brevity and expressive concentration of Webern’s Four Pieces. Beethoven’s dramatic Sonata in A minor Op.23 concludes the first half. To start the second half, Mathilde Milwidsky will perform Ysaye’s challenging solo work Sonata no.3. The popular Cesar Franck Sonata, a work of Romantic passion and a true favourite of performers and audiences, will conclude the evening.
This is an exciting opportunity to hear a wide range of deeply expressive music. Do join us!
