We have an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of Mental Health Advisors who carry out 1:1 assessments, deliver projects, provide mental health expertise to senior faculty staff as well as delivering personal development groups.

You will hold a relevant professional qualification such as Registered Mental Health Nurse/Community Psychiatric Nurse/Social Advisor/Occupational Therapist and have substantial experience of providing mental health advice and assessment to vulnerable adults.

You will hold Registration and professional standing with an appropriate professional body relevant to the area of mental health.

You will have significant experience of providing mental health support services within a demanding environment such as HE/FE, NHS, Social Work or voluntary sector to clients with moderate to severe mental health difficulties; experience of crisis management and coping with stressful and sometimes life threatening situations and knowledge and competence in assessing psychological distress and risk with clients, including suicidal behaviour.

Plymouth also has a fantastic range of nurseries and schools available, including many judged to be good or outstanding by Ofsted, including our on-campus nursery Freshlings , which holds an Ofsted rating of 'good'.

Plymouth and the surrounding area offers a wide choice of affordable housing within easy commutable distance to the University campuses. The city offers a variety of options with areas such as Stoke, Peverell, Mannamead and Hartley all within close proximity to the main University campus with easy access to the city centre and parks. Just outside the city, areas such as Plympton and Plymstock offer a wide range of housing with excellent community facilities such as shops, schools and libraries. Towards the north of the city is Derriford, which is also home to Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust, the largest hospital in the South West and location of the University’s North Campus , as well as being only 10 minutes away from Dartmoor National Park. A wide selection of large detached properties can be found within this area. Just outside of Plymouth is the South Hams, a region of rural and coastal Devon – to the north side, it stretches to the edges of Dartmoor National Park; to the south, it covers one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the UK from Torbay to Plymouth.
