We connect people, ideas, and opportunities, bringing together diverse disciplines to co-create pioneering projects and transformative experiences.
The Bridge is a dynamic force for positive change, advancing knowledge and understanding through collaboration, creativity, and innovation. We create inclusive spaces where everyone can engage with art, culture, and cutting-edge research, inspiring people to learn, connect, and shape a brighter future.
Our history
Established in 2018 as a collaboration between the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Business and the University’s Research and Innovation Directorate, The Bridge was initially created as a platform for delivering over £18.8 million of regional innovation projects.
Today, The Bridge integrates the Faculty’s professional services support for Research, Impact, Education, Knowledge Exchange, Cultural and Civic Engagement. This powerful combination of expertise supports staff, students, businesses and communities to build projects and partnerships that embed and embody placemaking – using creative, strategic, and tactical collaboration to enable positive change. As part of this, we produce and present the University of Plymouth’s arts and culture programme.

The Bridge harnesses the transformative power of arts, culture, and creativity to inspire change, reveal new potential within ourselves, and within our place. Guided by our core values of openness, collaboration, and inclusivity, we build meaningful connections, deliver impactful projects, and create a welcoming space for everyone to engage deeply with our University community.
